STAND YOUR GROUND

Many leaders struggle when delivering the tough messages, saying no, or voicing an unpopular idea. But speaking up is exactly what we need from the leaders in organizations.  It's impossible to be a leader and only say what people want to hear.  Stand Your Ground gives leaders an opportunity to practice speaking truth to power, saying no with confidence, and respectfully asserting their point of view so that their organization can hear from every voice at the table.

  • Understand when and where courageous conversations are needed in the workplace
  • Adopt the mindsets that enable effective assertion
  • Know the three key triggers to avoid when delivering tough messages
  • Have practiced asking for what they want and standing their ground
AGENDA
  • PREWORK:  Think and write about an upcoming conversation which will require you to courageously ask for something you want
  • What sort of conversations require courage? Why?
  • What does it mean to assert, why is it challenging, and why is it important?
  • What tools help us feel more confident having a courageous conversation?
  • What does it look like to assert like a leader?
  • How can we change our presence to increase our asserting effectiveness?
